Music OR Lyrics

Have you guys ever wondered which is more IMP Music or Lyrics? I know we need both to make a melody, but if ever we had to choose what gives soul to the song is it the music or the lyrics?

There are few songs which do not work well due to the music given to it, some because the words do not make sense! But what do we, as listeners connect to? n how does that help us enjoy the song? Some songs have weired words in them, yet work v well... like "dum dara dum dara wqt wqt..." tere bin of Guru, A.R Reheman compostion..

I cearly am confused n do not have a proper answer to it. But yes, I prefer songs with good lyrics. I wanna know how you guys determine your choice n why so!

classify them as meaningful and meaningless. meaningful songs usually don't run fast. For instance, Mera kuch saman by Asha, Tujse Naraj from Masoom et al. Meaningless try to uplift your mood most of the time... for instance.. "ee ante amrapooraa" hahaha.. that was funny .. and then there are few which settle in between.. like kk's khuda jaane.... i really dont care for lyrics as long as music is of my taste....

I prefer lyrics more. As in, priority lyrics, then music. Take for eg. Yuvvraaj songs were pretty OK. The music was nice, but WDF were those lyrics! same goes with Ghajini. I dunno how many ppl will actually agree with me. But i personally thot ghajini lyrics was CRAP. If you'll listen to it more clearly you too will agree. :) i wonder y ppl listen to prasoon's songs. With a few exceptions, all his lyrics are crap, thats what i believe.

This is as silly as asking whether mother is impoartant or father, in life... Music and lyrics go hand-in-hand. In fact music compliments good lyrics and vice versa. I dont think there can be a fully-convincing answer to this.

Music and Lyrics of a song are like the heart and mind of a person :)!

The mind can sometime play foul, can sometimes inspire with its meanings and many a times can lead us into temptations through reasoning..

The heart on the other hand goes on a track of its own, tune of its own and forces the lyrics to fall in place..

A song without good lyrics is like a noble hearted person who is misunderstood by the world as a mad person..

And lyrics without music is like a stone hearted genius.. :)

Some prefer experiencing the geek's genius.. Some prefer the crazy love's madness.. But when the geek is in love, what happens is pure magic for the world to experience ! :)
